ANCIENT GROOVE

18-01-18  Portugese Synagoge, Amsterdam

Ancient Groove’s Roy Zakai and Ofer Ronen are two Israeli guitarists with a unique sound. Zakai has a classical background while Ronen comes from the flamenco and ethnic music traditions. Their approach to canonical Jewish music is also unique, taking the compositions out of their religious context into the into contemporary world. Their compelling performances earlier this year, during the International Jewish Music Festival in Amsterdam, earned them the KUNSTENISRAËL Award and an invitation to return to the Netherlands. In Amsterdam, the guitarists will be joined by percussionist Amir Wahba. In Rotterdam and Utrecht, Andalusian singer Tamar Bloch will complete the ensemble. Click here for a video preview,
