MOTHER RAVAGE06-03-15 Korzo, Den Haag
Mother Ravage is a persuasive plea against convenient mechanisms and ideologies of war. With a mother and her offspring playing the leading parts, loosely based on Bertolt Brecht’s Mutter Courage und ihre Kinder. Quite loosely. For much more abstract. Considerably more musical too.
In this adaptation, music by Roi Nachshon, who has written for Ensemble Klang before, is the driving force behind the performance. Also in Nachshon and director Shiri Limors vision, a war is used for personal gain and a mother even sacrifices her children for her own profit. Mother Ravage is a flaming indictment of war in smouldering and penetrating sounds.
